Community Life

It’s Good to Be Together

Beyond worship, First Parish offers opportunities for social, intellectual, and spiritual connections among parishioners. Our Sunday morning Lyceums feature speakers who present on a variety of topics that are of interest to our parishioners as well as the community at large. Circle suppers, pot lucks, short-story and book discussions, and small-group ministries come together regularly. For those with younger children and youth, our growing Family Ministry program offers family dinners and programs, with child care provided, that strive to serve the whole family.

Our annual spring church retreat to Ferry Beach (in Saco, Maine) helps bridge the generations, as do our periodic group travels to our partner parish in Transylvania. Additionally, First Parish provides a number of ways to get involved with parishioners and others outside the church by giving back through committee work, volunteerism, social action, and the Lay Pastoral Care Team program, which offers both volunteer opportunities and aid and assistance to those in need.
