“My Refugee Journey”
presented by Bopha Malone
Bedford Select Board Member and community activist Bopha Malone will share her experience as a refugee to the U.S. She escaped from war-torn, landmine-infested Cambodia by foot with her mother, reunited with her father and brother in a Thailand refugee camp, and arrived in the United States with nothing but the clothes on her back to achieve her family’s American Dream.
Bopha Malone is a VP and Regional Business Advisor at Enterprise Bank. She and her husband Tom and their two children, Taevy and Caelan, moved to Bedford in 2016. In 2020 she became the first Cambodian-American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts as a member of the Bedford’s Select Board. She is also the first person of color to serve on Bedford’s Select Board. Bopha immigrated to the U.S. at the age of nine, and credits caring mentors for helping her get to where she is today. As a first-generation Cambodian-American who benefited from the support and encouragement of others, her passion is to seek opportunities to give back to others facing similar challenges.
Come and enjoy this fascinating and timely presentation!
