My name is
Lisa Rubin. I am very delighted to be the new Director of Religious Education
here at The First Parish in Bedford. I
come to you directly from The First Unitarian Universalist Society of
Burlington, Vermont, where I held this very same position for the past 23 years.
I have moved here to the Mass. Bay District to set up home and be
“legally” married (yeah!) to the Rev. Laurie Auffant.
Laurie is the Minister of RE at Follen Community Church (UU), in
Lexington. As a person of
commitment, I look forward to a long relationship with you, as well, as we guide
the UU kids of FPB through their journey of spiritual development and growing
sense of their place in our faith family.
You will often hear
me speak of stewardship. Stewardship is the foundation of supporting the
continued growth of that most valued by us.
It is crucial, especially in these times, that we as adults carry on the
important responsibility of stewardship of our liberal religious faith. One way
we do this is by supporting the young people of our movement in embracing our
commitment to affirm and promote our UU Principles and values.
Throughout the year I will joyfully invite you to join in stewardship
opportunities in the religious education program, and with the children and
youth for special activities. I
look forward to becoming better acquainted with each of you as we take this
journey together. Below is a list of places in the RE program where stewardship
is needed. One of these might be
just right for your stewardship opportunity.
I’ll be getting one of those FPB email addresses in the near future,
for now you may reach me at: dre@uubedford.org
through the FPB main phone number (781-275-7994 x 5), or by stopping in to visit
with me during the week. You’ll
be able to recognize fairly easily, I’m just over 5’ and I’m the one with
the long curly silver hair. I look
forward to seeing you!
May you recognize
many blessings in your day.
Lisa
