"A Celebration of Armistice Day - Poetry from the Trenches"
This is Veterans' Day weekend, Born as Armistice Day celebrating the end of hostilities in World War I, this holiday was intended to mark the end of the war to end all wars. The British islands lost about 1 million men and women in this conflict - British, Irish, Scots and Welch. Poets of the day took up the cause of reminding us all of why there should be no more killing. On this Sunday we will visit with a few of the memorable "War Poets" of Great Britain to hear their homilies to the heroes. |
