The Lyceum marks Earth Day by inviting David Spencer, founder of a Bedford-based recycling company, to offer a long-term perspective on recycling and alternative energy ideas after more than thirty years in the business. His talk will also include a brief look at the future of exciting new recycling technologies with the potential to reclaim significant portions of higher-end materials.

The Iraq Refugee Crisis – The World’s Largest Movement of Refugees Since 1948, with Joe and Ivy Pompei.

Since the beginning of the US invasion in 2003, over 2000 Iraqis have been forced to flee to neighboring countries; another 2.7 million Iraqis have been internally displaced from their homes and neighborhoods. The US response to this crisis has been underwhelming. In 2007 only 1600 Iraqis were offered asylum in the US. Learn about this humanitarian crisis and what you can do to make a difference.
