Ukraine 101 (Parts 1 & 2): Root Causes of the Russian Invasion in Context – Ukraine’s history, culture, and people.

Description:

Vlad Shapiro, a Ukrainian-American from Kyiv, will speak briefly about the root causes and current state of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

Vlad will also provide background on cultural & historical differences between the Ukraine & Russian populations, Ukraine’s place in the global economy, as well as key information about Ukrainian culture and traditions. 

Both presentations will include plenty of time for questions from the audience.

Both talks are free and will be accessible on Zoom for those who cannot attend in-person.

Our speaker:

Vladislav (Vlad) Shapiro, native of Kyiv, Ukraine, came to the United States in 1991 as a math graduate student at Brandeis University. During the last 20 years he has been working as an advisor in the Cybersecurity field, specifically concentrating on the human factor element. Vlad is an author and guest speaker at many prominent conferences in his area of expertise, working with clients around the world. His interests include sports (soccer and basketball specifically), world and Eastern European history and culture, chess, and music. His family moved to Bedford in 2016.
