Many Unitarian Universalist congregations have made a commitment to the Welcoming Congregation Program. However,  most congregants have little or no understanding of how to sincerely welcome transgender individuals. Rev. Auffant will  address where we stand as an Association, in wholeheartedly including transgender people in all aspects of our religious life.  The Rev. Auffant will also discuss the importance of all religious people to support the Gender Identity non-discrimination bill  (H. 1728/S. 1687) which is now being studied by the joint Judiciary Committee of the Massachusetts legislature. The Rev.  Auffant is the first Puerto Rican woman and the first out transgender person to be ordained in the Unitarian Universalist  Association.
