Jennifer Hashley, Director of New Entry Sustainable Farming Project.
Based at Tufts University, New Entry supports small scale commercial agriculture in  Massachusetts. In her spare time, Jennifer is a vegetable and livestock farmer and with her  husband, co-owns a grass-based livestock enterprise, Pete and Jen’s Backyard Birds, which  raises chickens, eggs, pork, sheep, and rabbits. Jennifer serves on steering committees for the  emerging Massachusetts Food and Farm Policy Council, the emerging Massachusetts Grazing  Lands Conservation Initiative (“Mass Grass”), and the Lowell Food Security Coalition. She also  is a farm business planning instructor for the Mass. Department of Agricultural Resources and teaches farm-based field labs for graduate students in the Tufts University, Agriculture, Food  and Environment program. Prior to her work in Massachusetts, Jennifer served as a Peace  Corps Volunteer in Honduras working with rural subsistence farmers and she held a staff  biologist position at an environmental consulting firm in Idaho. Jennifer holds a Master’s degree  in Agricultural Policy from Tufts University and a BS in Environmental Science and Public Policy  from Indiana University.
