On Sunday, July 26 Rev. Ken MacLean, Minister of the Church of the Desert in Rancho Mirage, Calif., will preach. Ken has served UU churches  in Roslindale, West Roxbury, Knoxville, Bethesda, and Juneau. He has served as president of the UU Ministers Assoc. and was on  the Board of  the UUA. The  title of  the service  is “Ela Bhatt’s Three Questions.” Ken says, As liaison to the Holdeen India Program, I had the privilege of going to India five  times with Kathy Sreedhar, Director of  the program for  twenty-five years. Among  the  leaders whom we met was Ela Bhatt,  the  founder  of  the Self  Employed Women’s  Association,  which  has  grown  to  about  a million members in Gujarat and neighboring states. When Ela was invited  to  give  the Commencement Address  at  the Kennedy  School  of Government in 2005, she asked three questions of the graduates, questions which she said had shaped her life. I think that her questions have relevance for all of us, and they lead to other questions which I would ask.”
